Lost Island DX Society
Tonight, the air is as still as plate glass and waves born deep in the Pacific ocean crash against million year old rocks. I have consumed the opening episode of LOST streaming out of NetFlix digital archives onto our 42 inch smart television. I'm left with one begging question to answer, "Who is and where is the Lost Island DX Society?"
Certainly, neither ham radio forums or RadioSport reflectors or #hamr Twitter or FaceBook friends, have mentioned the Lost Island DX Society. Perhaps, despite an acronym of LIDS, one might conclude the island is not the stage for painted clowns or a place where Up, Up, Up police retire.
Instead?
The Fi-Ni Report suggests the island is located somewhere near Atlantis not to be confused with the resort. Additionally, one qualifies with clouds of aluminum in the sky driven by Ridley Scott like manufactured amplifiers. My paraphrased motto for membership and privilege is, "It takes Big Guns DNA to know a Big Gun."
Subsequently, strewn across decades of RadioSport memorabilia, are markers with one common pattern; potentially, pointing to the terrestrial longitude and latitude of the Lost Island DX Society? I would like, one day out there in the vast expanse of ham radio's unpredictable future, to give a TED Talk about the proven existence of this island and society.
Perhaps, the first, first high frequency transmission originated from the mysterious island, wherein; hybrid Morse code DNA was constructed and propagated across the planet only to have the Big Guns loose control of their creation?
Therefore it is the mission of KA3DRR to assemble a crew of explorers who are willing to take a risk in search of the Lost Island DX Society. I cannot reasonably predict our odds potentially 50-50 that one might survive to tell the story at TED Talk. In the meantime, I'm looking for one Dave Type 8 who can plug into the clusters and sift through infinite callsign variations for clues in order to answer, "Who is and where is the Lost Island DX Society?"
