2012 NAQP SSB Mountain Top Expedition

BBARC Participants (L) KG6WIK as The Machinist with (R) KI6QDH as Solo
San Luis Obispo County, Cuesta Grade, Los Padres National Forest
Fred, KI6QDH is never one to turn down a challenge and this weekend our man Solo is somewhere in the Los Padres National Forest atop Cuesta Grade. He is north of tower hill on the way to Morro Bay. This area is well suited for mountain top ham radio activities. And, instead of operating deep in the suburban concrete jungle, Solo opted for the fresh air of Cuesta Grade inside Los Padres National Forest.

He is somewhere on that ridge line with a Yaesu FT450, a 3 band trapped vertical with radials, a 40m dipole, an MFJ fiberglass push up mast, and a Honda generator.

His goal going into the event is to log as many Qs and multipliers as humanly possible from his portable location within the allocated ten hours. Solo is keeping his fingers crossed that 40m will play exceedingly well into the East Coast near sunset.

On behalf of all Beach Boys ARC participants, we want to wish our man Solo best results in the log, a stellar score, and a clean multiplier sweep from high on Cuesta Grade inside the Los Padres National Forest.

Contest on!
