My #hamr Weekend Update
Fast weekend with little time spent inside shackadelic because of summer and preparing for field day. The Beach Boys ARC gathered together at SL's antenna farm on the hill overlooking the Five Cities. We are a few this year as some have other commitments and others are on an adventure of a life time.
Field day is labor intensive from logistics to public relations to ensuring an ample food supply. The planning is complete and we are staging our equipment to include antenna assembly, deployment of a computer network, and keeping the whole enterprise as simple as possible.
Our goal is to keep field day fun while creating a friendly learning environment for all those attending the only emergency wireless communication site in the Five Cities. Our location data is uploaded at the League and press releases are sent to local newspapers including one television station. Also, the Beach Boys ARC will operate two alpha with one station dedicated to legacy high frequency modes and the other going digital with very high frequency coverage on six meters.
In addition, we are incorporating stubs for the first time and both stations are going to be in the same tent as an off center fed dipole, a two element yagi on short boom for broad beam width on 6m, and a 4 element tri-bander with 40m rotatable dipole, are our chosen antenna systems. We are going to feed our antennas with runs of donated RG213.
We have many tasks to accomplish between here and Saturday morning when all the fun begins. The current plan is to have our site as ready as ready can get by Friday night. I'd like to have a relaxing Saturday morning when the Beach Boys ARC goes for their third consecutive field day.
