DXCC First One Hundred

Two more DXCC entities to confirm and the first one hundred builds the foundation toward the honor roll. I enjoy chasing DX because of the challenge from low power at 55 watts into a ground mounted vertical to a kilowatt into heavy metal in the sky. Perhaps, I can trace my passion for DXing back to the days as a novice sitting in front of a Heathkit DX 60 with a 40m dipole slung between our house and a tree across the road?

Certainly, technology has changed the culture of DXing, specifically, I'm not rag chewing anymore, instead opting for exchanges of less than 5 seconds or less. Is this type of wireless connection good for DXing and the promotion of international goodwill? Or, because of my niche in ham radio, I prefer RadioSport style exchanges when chasing the rhino?

Admittedly, nearly 100 percent of my operating commitment is either a RadioSport event or chasing a DXpedition. Simply, at this point in my life, I don't have as much time for a rag chew style exchange. Instead, RadioSport and DXpeditions really bring out my passion for ham radio and the style of exchange would naturally follow.

I'm finally closing in on my first one hundred after 30 plus years as a ham radio operator. I'm stoked and patiently waiting for the remaining two entities to confirm!

Stay thirsty for DX my friends.

My #hamr Weekend Update

What is happening inside shackadelic this weekend? I'm burning kilowatts at the keyboard catching up after working with steel and stomping around asphalt in steel toed boots inside a hard hat. There is nothing like comfortable slippers and ham radio on a Friday night.

Ham radio writing goals include My 10,000 Hour RadioSport Challenge, RadioSport Project Chapter One, and chasing DX for the computer log.

I want to catch up on My 10,000 Hour RadioSport Challenge because CQWW DX CW 2011 is history as well as the ARRL 10m Contest. We surfed Cycle 24's incredible wave during WorldWide and faced a serious mechanical challenge for the 10m event.

Likewise, my 3L KLM KT34 Tri-Bander antenna patiently waits for a little radio frequency wind as noted when RadioSport Project Chapter One hits the blog. Lastly, I'm edging ever closer to DXCC first one hundred and the counter goes up later this weekend.

I'm waiting for 3-Land Bureau QSLs while knocking out my first pound of bureau cards for shipment later next week. Any status on the bureaus?

Turn on, tune up, operate!
