RadioSport USA | NA CW Sprint

My weekend is shackadelic because the North American CW Sprint event is scheduled for later this afternoon. It's one of my favorites because the format is a challenge as no one station can 'hold' a frequency per say. Another reason is the fast and furious speed of CW Sprint. The event is four hours of RadioSport fun.

Local news around the Five Cities, UM donated a crank up tower to the Beach Boys Amateur Club. An idea is floating around for a club house with a little slice of land for tower construction. The idea emerged after reading about European clubs pooling their resources and creating competitive grade stations. Why not in California?

By the way, DRR suggested reading is PileUp, sponsored by Contest Club Finland. One will find within its pages excellent technical articles, a not-so serious perspective on RadioSport, and a well spring of creative ideas. Thank you Contest Club Finland for producing a stellar e-magazine for free.

Best results to everyone this evening and hope to see you in N1MM's Contest Logger.

My 10,000 Hour RadioSport Challenge | 9,615 - 2 = 9,613 Hours To Go

Surging Cycle 24 with low A- and K-index numbers with Colorado situated in the middle of country was ham radio fun for a Saturday afternoon. Twenty meters was my center of RadioSport gravity for this QSO party. It wasn't like I didn't listen on 10 or 15m yet nothing heard perhaps skip was long? My low power, low profile station with its vertical antenna system sandwiched between a pair of condos and a fence line netted 11 Qs and 10 counties. Score posted on 3830 and log sent for adjudication.

Wanted to mention W5VX kick butt signal on 10m CW earlier this afternoon. Why this spectrum space is under utilized when SFI begins soaring into triple digits with low noise numbers is baffling?

I'm notching an hour or so off my challenge because of the Tennessee QSO Party before chilling out with QDH at his QTH. On the other hand, my station garnished two eQSL awards; eWAS and eDX first 50 confirmed. As ND mentions, "DRR is stoked."

Prop is up!
