RadioSport USA | SMIRK QSO Party.
The hottest #hamr trend is 6m operating and I cannot imagine the excitement from last weekend has ebbed. I recommend, for contest sponsors, to think about promoting your event on Twitter. Our network of passionate and dedicated ham radio operators would enjoy hearing from contest sponsorship. The Six Meter International Klub (SMIRK) might be surprised this weekend. Interested contest sponsors, go to Twitter, click search then type #hamr in the search bar.

Project 3BTV Update | Radial System Build Up

Photograph 1. DX Engineering radial plate for mating with 3 band trapped vertical. I opted not to manufacture a radial plate because of this type of craftsmanship. I'm thinking water jet or a well maintained and carefully operated press paired with a computer. Impressive is my observation and $64 dollars cash from the budget. Additionally, given salt content near the ocean, I'm testing its material soundness across time. Furthermore, one must protect against corrosion especially when installing dissimilar metals and protective coating will follow plus maintenance. Keep in mind, preventive maintenance is 100% cost savings for the long term and protects one's material investment as well.

Photograph 2. My initial radial benchmark number is 8 per band x 3 bands equal 24 total radials. This is by no means a magic number of radials rather a performance benchmark. Each radial is cut at a quarter wavelength as suggested across ham radio's antenna literature. The gauge of wire is #14 stranded and it was available on the shackadelic inventory list. My next stage is assembly and testing sometime in July because my June weekend schedule is full. I also need to lay out the radials and develop a support system for radial ends because the vertical may be elevated a few more feet above Earth ground.

Turn on, tune, operate.
