On KA3DRR Page Load | Keith, W4KAZ commented "It loads faster on my son's 4GB gaming box, but it still seems to take about 25 seconds..."

Read comment (link).

I wondered if the number of calls slowed down page load? They did. I experimented with several widgets and your comment allowed me to assess their purpose. I removed the following widgets; Twitter Follower Count, PostRank, Labels, and Google Following. I can still analyze data without slowing down one's page load.

I'm happy to note you are enjoying each FriendFeed category near the bottom of the page.

Many thanks Keith for your valuable feedback.

NASA Online Poll For Mars Science Laboratory Mission Rover

According to NASA's latest press release (link), a finalist poll (link) begins on 23 March running through the 29th, and we are invited to vote on our favorite. Nine thousands students submitted names for NASA's Mars Science Laboratory Mission from kindergarten thru 12th grade.

  • "The student who submitted the winning name will be invited to JPL to sign the rover. Additionally, all 30 student semi-finalists in the naming contest will have an opportunity to place an individually-tailored message on the chip."
  • "The naming contest is part of a Space Act Agreement between NASA and Disney."
Incentivized competition? Collaboration? One of the 9,000 is waiting to sign the Mars Science Laboratory Mission rover in the very near future. And 30 voices from home will wait for the first humankind mission from Earth as well.

World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) 2011 | Challenge & Opportunity?

I'm beginning my research after an interesting discussion on Twitter regarding the following WRC-11 agenda item.

  • Agenda item 1.19, "[C]onsidering regulatory measures to enable software-defined and cognitive radio systems."
What does "regulatory measures to enable..." mean?

incentive2innovate | Xi2i | 8 and 9 June

My on-going series of blog postings from now until then whose theme is innovation and invention. X PRIZE Foundation will host incentive2innovate (i2i) on the 8th of June, United Nations, New York City. Incentivized competition and open collaboration are two underutilized tools according to i2i and this conference will teach the benefit of both.

Learn.

  • "Best practices for design and implementation of prizes and collaboration platforms."
  • "How to attract the best minds from across the globe to solve your challenges."
  • "How to leverage your research and development budget 100-fold."
  • "How to apply these tools to your organizations biggest challenges."
I would like to draw one's attention to my recent blog posting, National Science Foundation | Generation 3 (Gen-3) Engineering Research Centers (ERC) and the conceptual momentum of incentivized competition and open collaboration. Perhaps this model will continue its growth as the new innovation landscape takes shape?

Recommend watching i2i video as well.

On San Luis Obispo, California | Madonna Inn

We recently celebrated a birthday dinner and decided on Alex Madonna's Gold Rush Steak House. My steak was top notch and the service set a standard for courtesy as well as friendliness. There is more to the Gold Rush Steak House and my photographs captured a narrow perspective of the services offered at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. One must visit Copper Cafe and soak in the unique setting. And deserts? Their deserts are bigger than any known fork on the globe.

Madonna Inn is a landmark resort hotel with 110 rooms each with a unique theme. Additionally, in 2005 Alex Madonna Expo Center opened with 20,000 square feet and a capacity to hold up to 2,600 people as well.

I always leave Madonna Inn especially the Gold Rush Steak House with a sense of contentment. My steak and potato with all the fixings accomplished its mission.
