2008 Texas QSO Party Results

Conditions did not turn-on until Saturday afternoon and a lot of fun followed. I fired up N1MM Contest Logger for Single Operator 2 VFO (SO2V) but 15-Meters did not produce any Qs this season. Then I switched to VFO A/B and followed the band map. Likewise I turned off DX spots from K7RA's telnet service thus reducing congestion as well. I utilized the band map about 50% of the time.

Propagation? Cycle 24 sunspots are on the opposite side of Helios right now. However 20-Meters was quiet, really quiet. I budgeted time to learn DSP functions ie. DSP NR, DSP passband filter, and DSP CW peaking filter on the Yaesu FT-100 this weekend. I noted a quantum jump in listening comfort and pulling out weak signals. A quiet band helped.

I'm noting a problem that is zero beating. And it continues following me.

Results.

  • 19 CW Qs.
  • 19 multipliers.
  • Worked W0BH/M [5x].
Thank you Texas for ham radio fun this weekend. Hope to see you in the California QSO Party log next weekend.

Contest on.
